THE TRACK: ....
The layout on the right shows the position of the curves and kerbs, but not the inclines (hills)
and cambers - THEY have to be experienced!
The extended and resurfaced course was designed to keep the character and challenge of the old track,
but faster, with fewer 'switchbacks' and without the 'ripples' and dust of the previous asphalt surface.
Unlike the 'flat' tracks elsewhere, this tarmac could not be laid by machine, so the surface is less even than some,
but it is well drained and provides plenty of grip.
Where else could you accelerate to 'lift-off' at the top of a hill, then turn sharp right into a chicane?
The grid has been re-positioned to the back straight, so the entry to the first corner is less of a problem -
until you reach the first chicane!
The driving area is defined by a mixture of concrete kerbs, and shaped rubber strips,
all contained within a plastic-faced perimeter wall. "Run-off" areas don't exist - but the
long curves have a protective rope 'bumper'.
