Despite wet weather later in the day, the first round of qualifying gave STCC drivers another opportunity to show their paces, and Ricky did not disappoint.

The weather was already beginning to deteriorate when the top heat began their first qualifying run, but with Ricky's local knowledge and the car on top form, he was able to pass the 8 cars that started before him and create a lead of 7 seconds before the end of the race.

The rain prevented any improvement to lap times but Ricky believes he could have shaved a further 6 seconds off the time from pole!!
